Engrish at Its Finest #3: Summer Jam!
"Baby Don't Cry," by Amuro Namie
Another cog in the disposable, ephemeral J-pop world. I like this song, though. I think she has an nice voice and the melody and lyrics are catchy. A friend told me she's from Okinawa and used to be considered the "Queen of Hip-Pop," whatever that means... It's been popular for a couple weeks now, so I give it another couple of weeks tops before people forget about it. Her English pronunciation seems to be pretty good though! Sometimes I think about how Japanese pop songs will use random English phrases in them, and how strange it would be if there were English songs with random Japanese in them, haha.
